Commercial cold room refrigeration units, also known as walk-in cooler and freezer refrigeration systems, are designed to generate and maintain controlled temperatures inside professional cold storage rooms. Ideal for restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, butcher shops, fishmongers, delicatessens, pastry shops, bakeries, canteens and food processing facilities, they are used with positive-temperature cold rooms and negative-temperature freezer rooms, depending on their technical specifications. They support chilled and frozen food storage in professional environments.

Professional cold room cooling units are available in different cooling capacities and configurations, including wall-mounted monoblock units, ceiling-mounted monoblock systems and split refrigeration units, depending on the range. Equipment may include refrigeration compressors, evaporators, condensers, fans, electronic temperature controllers and defrosting systems. Certain versions feature digital controls, alarms, automatic defrosting and condensate evaporation systems. Cooling capacity, refrigerant type and operating temperature range vary according to the model and working conditions.

When choosing a refrigeration unit for a commercial cold room or walk-in freezer, consider internal room volume in m³, required storage temperature, ambient temperature, insulation panel thickness, door opening frequency and product heat load. Electrical supply, rated cooling capacity at design conditions, noise levels, ventilation requirements and installation method must also be checked. Equipment sizing should not be based on cold room volume alone: stored product quantities and operating conditions also affect refrigeration demand. Installation and refrigerant circuit work must be carried out by appropriately qualified personnel in accordance with applicable regulations.
